I learnt a lesson not to complain from a gentleman who used to manage our local betting shop. This was an incident I saw first hand where customers stopped complaining.
There are traditional moaners/whiners, guys who cant go past a day without complaining about something. One important aspect of customer service is putting customers first. But we had a few customers who used to always complain/moan about something or the other about our branch.
One day when the complaints started, the manager took 2 pounds 20 pence from the till and gave it to the gentleman who was complaining.
Customer was perplexed and asked why ? The manager replied, you are coming to our shop because it is walking distance for you. If you take a bus, 3 stops away there are other betting shops. Don’t worry about the money, I’ll pay for your bus fare.
Since that day the customer never complained.
Moral : Don’t complain, do what you like to do.
